How does microneedling work?
We use the SkinPen or Morpheus8 to create controlled microinjuries in the surface layer of your skin. These microinjuries activate your skin’s healing cascade, which triggers the production of collagen and elastin.
Collagen and elastin are structural proteins found in the dermal layer of skin. These proteins are responsible for your skin’s youthful strength and resilience. As you get older, collagen and elastin production slows down, which contributes to many of the visible signs of aging.
Your skin closes the tiny tears from the procedure quickly. By activating the healing process, microneedling triggers a remodeling of the tissue. The remodeling then creates firmer, stronger, and younger-looking skin without your skin enduring any real damage.
What happens during a microneedling treatment?
We perform your microneedling treatments at the office. Treatment time varies but typically takes less than an hour.
To ease discomfort during your microneedling session, we apply a numbing lotion to your skin. She then uses the SkinPen or Morpheus8 to create controlled microinjuries to get the desired results.
Though you may notice some skin redness following microneedling, there’s no need for downtime.
When can I expect to see results from microneedling?
You should start to see results from microneedling within 1-4 weeks. Your results may last 6-12 months.
Microneedling is a gentle and safe cosmetic treatment you can repeat every 30 days. We typically perform microneedling treatments in a series of 3-6 sessions usually spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.
Your esthetician may recommend 6-8 microneedling sessions to treat stretch marks, acne scars, deep wrinkles, or advanced photoaging.
