Before Care
Be sure to heed the following before you come in for your treatment:
Protect your skin from UV exposure for 4-6 weeks before treatment. This means no tanning, and you must protect your skin with long clothing, sunscreen, and other preventative measures.
Do not apply a fake tan or spray tan for at least 2 weeks before your treatment. Fake tans stain your outer skin cells, which will cause your skin to absorb more of the IPL than is meant.
Stop using skin bleaching/depilatory creams for at least one week before IPL treatment.
Stop using AHA creams, glycolic or salicylic peels for at least one week prior to IPL treatment.
After Care
Immediate After Care (24 Hours After Treatment)
Do not expose your skin to the sun or to tanning beads.
Use sunblock with both UVA and UVB protection.
Do not use depilatory, AHA, glycolic or salicylic creams.
Use only tepid water (NOT hot) when bathing or showering.
Do not take part in heat treatments, like the sauna.
Do not swim in chlorinated pools or spa baths.
If your underarms have been treated, do not use deodorant.
Do not use highly scented soaps or lotions, perfumes, etc.
Long-Term After Care
Wear sunscreen! Make sure your sunscreen has UVA and UVB protection.
Avoid excessive sun exposure to begin with. Cover up and always be sun-safe.
