How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses the principle of selective photothermolysis to get rid of your unwanted hair.
During laser hair removal, the esthetician applies a carefully timed pulse laser light to your skin. The light passes through your skin to the pigmented hair follicles.
Your hair follicle absorbs the light and converts it to heat, which destroys the hair follicle.
What happens during laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is an in-office treatment. Your treatment time varies depending on the size and location of the body part undergoing hair removal. Your sessions can last anywhere from five minutes to two hours.
You may feel a snapping or pulling sensation as the pulsed light energy hits your skin. If you have a low pain tolerance, be sure to let us know so we can adjust your plan to minimize your discomfort.
After your session, your skin may be slightly red and swollen. These side effects disappear soon after treatment.
